Tenants can now sue landlords civilly for lead poisonings.

Insurancompanies must make lead liability insurance available on November 1, 2005.

Landlords who have had their units inspected and have valid certificates can request Lead Liability Insurance from their insurance company at the time their policy renews.

Landlords who have had their units inspected and have valid certificates and whose insurance policy renewed before November 1, 2005 but still want Lead Liability Insurance can get it from the R.I. Fair Plan.

Landlords who have not had their units inspected and are not in compliance can still obtain lead liability insurance, at an increased price, from the R.I. Fair Plan.
